The European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Inland Waterways (ADN) aims at ensuring a high level of safety of international carriage of Dangerous Goods by inland waterways.
The Intergovernmental Organisation for International Carriage by Rail, known today as OTIF, aims to promote, improve and facilitate, in all respects, international traffic by rail. This Convention was amended by the Vilnius Protocol in 1999. It on this occasion developed the Regulations concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Rail (RID), which appeared as Appendix C to the Convention itself.
The Directorate-General for the Department of Motor Vehicles (MINISTRY FOR INFRASTRUCTURE AND TRANSPORT) is in charge of the several aspects of the road regulation, of the control and supervision on the application of the adopted guidelines for vehicles and drivers, of the government of the administrative and economic features of the road transport system.
Besides ADR, the transportation of explosives, toxic gases and radioactives is regulated on national scale by the Italian legislation through specific laws to respect.
