The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) codifies the principles and techniques and plans the development of international air travel.

ICAO Annex 18 to the Chicago Convention – “The Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air” sets down the general principles which determine whether items are acceptable for carriage by air.

IATA (International Air Transport Association) supports airline activity. Its main goals are:

  • To enhance safe, regular and low-cost air transportation in the interest of humanity, to support the aviation trade and to study and solve the relevant problems;
  • To provide all necessary means for the cooperation of the airlines who directly or not serve international air carriages;
  • To cooperate with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
  • The Italian Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC), sole Body of technical regulation, certification, supervision and control in the field of civil aviation in Italy, is in charge of the several aspects of the civil aviation regulation, of the control and supervision on the application of the adopted guidelines, of the government of the administrative and economic features of the air transport system.
